* Home lessons are by arrangement and carry a travel charge on top of the lesson price. It depends on how far we are travelling, so we work it out for each family rather than quoting one figure. Why learn the violin?
The violin teaches the ear before it teaches the fingers. Because nothing on the instrument is marked out for you, a violinist learns to hear whether a note is right and to correct it as they play - a skill that carries into singing, into any second instrument, and into listening to music at all.
It is also sociable in a way solo instruments are not. Two violins can play together from the first term, which is why our beginner groups work so well, and a young player who keeps going will find a seat waiting in almost every school and community orchestra there is.
